In the communist period there wasn't public mobile phone service in Hungary, so we don't have any public 0G network. But for the politicians and for the military staff there was a soviet technology mobile service called Altai but it is ceased after transition. The operator Westel Rádiótelefon Kft. owned by the local state telephone company (Matáv) and the US based US West Int. The NMT-450 technology was imported from the north and Westel covered the whole country soon. They started to sell Motorola, Ericsson and Benefon transportables and later Nokia and Benefon handportable and pocket phones. (The 0660 name refers to Westel's call prefix.) The number of subscribers had been grown till 1999 (it was about 100 000) but with the expansion of GSM operators it reduced to 17 000 in 2003. The operation was ceased at 30th of Jun 2003.
