It's been awhile but just this week i noticed an interesting project on Github referencing NMT base station, and today i probably made the first proper phone call on NMT service in this country since service shut down! It is software solution for operating A, B and C-Netz, NMT and even AMPS basestation at home. It requires two radios with ability to transmit and receive on the correct frequencies. It is part of "Osmocom" project, Open source mobile communication as it stands for.

It runs on a Linux based system with two soundcards for speech back and fourth.

All credit goes to Andreas Eversberg and rest of people behind Osmocom for making this happen!

Hello .

I tried to test the SMS function. I tried three different phone. Nokia 650, Benefon Dragon, Nokia 450. But I could not send SMS. I changed the numbers from 767 to 9999 and still could not send SMS. The program understands that soil sending sms.but the connection breaks down and SMS not sent .For me the problem is most likely in the transmitter. It has a very low power 10 mW should try a more powerful

Can you give some info on your setup? I am planning to buy new radios for this project, my radio is broken and i am using old TV set for receive audio right now. Ideally i want to buy the cheap Baofeng ones but i have been unable to interface them with my computer as they use voltage for PTT switch.

You do not need to use voltage for PTT switch. Baofeng It has a function VOX we simply activate it . Then when the input received signal will turn on the transmitter .I use special transmitters which transmit continuously. A receiver for use Motorola P080

Hello!

I am interested in the project. I installed the program on Linux based on what I found on the project website.
But I'm running into a problem.
Is there anyone here with experience in this project?
