What is this device? You mean to test phone calls functionality?
Re: Motorola DynaTAC PrototypeHi. Yes, that is correct. My JRC cellular test set does phone registration & processes two way voice calls.
Acts like a mini base station, AMPS only. There is an article about it in the library section.
Re: Motorola DynaTAC PrototypeFew....I just read your article. Very interesting! Unfortunately, this whole thing is way over my technical capabilities to handle it, and i think also money capabilities (I supposed is pretty expensive??). I guess i will stick to just watching my analog phones for now .
Re: Motorola DynaTAC PrototypeNMT test sets are extremely rare and much more expensive than AMPS ones so but there are some guys here who building NMT base station at home: viewtopic.php?t=129
Re: Motorola DynaTAC PrototypeThe 1982 Motorola Annual Report features a photo of a prototype identical or nearly identical to the one Thomas owns on page 4 (page 6 of the PDF): https://www.motorolasolutions.com/conte ... Report.pdf
Re: Motorola DynaTAC PrototypeThat's very interesting. It appears that one is black or dark gray though.
Re: Motorola DynaTAC PrototypeHi Chris,
finally You can see it works here! It looks very impressive and all the status indicator are red colored!
Re: Motorola DynaTAC Prototype
Hi, yes, this is the similar phone!
What do you mean? Two types exists. The 1981 one and the 1982-3 presentation dummy for commercial purposes. You can see it in gallery. It is with a white edge on the black front end.
Re: Motorola DynaTAC PrototypeReally cool to finally see one of these powered up!
Re: Motorola DynaTAC PrototypeThe phone shown on page 4 looks dark colored on the sides to me. But it could just be the lighting of the picture.
