Hi @all, I am very happy to find this page in the www today! My name is Thomas and I am from Germany. I am collecting old Motorola cell phones, pagers and radios. I worked for this (former) great Company from 1992-2004 and that is why I collect Motorola and their clones only. Because I started my collection in 1997, I now own about 530 different items, incl. 115 different brick phones. I will upload a few pictures within the next weeks. Great to be here! Cheers Thomas

Hello Thomas, Wellcome on the board! Great to see here a Motorola-expert! You maybe have got some Storno Motorola phones which are very rare outside of Germany. Do you collect very old Motorola stuff too? TV sets or very old radios? Last month I visited Museum of technology here in Budapest and my museologist friend showed me an original Galvin Manufacturing SCR-536 handie talkie radio from WW II. It was great to hand it in my hand So, have a nice time here and we wellcome every upload! Peter

Hello Peter, Many thanks for your friendly response! I have a few Storno phones, some Roadstar, Pioneer, Blaupunkt and Bosch. I do not have TV sets, but I have an few radios, including two different handie talkies. My favorite mobiles are the Motorola brick phones. I have two different DynaT-A-C 8000X, three different units of the UK version 8000X and some different of the 8500X. Very rare is my prototype version of a DynaT-A-C 8000X, dated 1981. I will make some pictures and upload them here this weekend. Many thanks again and kind regards Thomas

Hi Thomas. Great to see you here. I am another vintage mobile phone collector in Australia. Do you have many AMPS model phones ? Do you have a copy of the Motorola Cellular Service Manual ? This is very handy to have, mine is from 1994. Great about the prototype Dynatac phone you have, look forward to seeing some photos of it. My oldest Motorola is a Dynatac 4000 car phone from 1983. I can still use all my old AMPS phones, at least the ones that are not faulty, with a test set I have. Cheers, Chris.

Hi Chris, Many thanks! Very nice to get in contact with other mobile phone collectors! I have a lot of AMPS model phones (Micro Tac, 8000M, 8000s, Ultra Classic, Modar, etc.) but, I am not sure about the Motorola Cellular Service Manual. Do you mean the manual, which is given with the phone? A few of my phones are with the original box and with the whole accessories. I will post photos of the prototype this weekend. It is different to the standard Dyna-Tac, cause the battery is fixed with screws. Cheers Thomas

Hello Peter, wow, the test set is really great! Then I do not have a Motorola Cellular Service Manual. Sorry Chris Too bad; I worked as a Business Administration Manager from 1994 - 2001 in the Facility Management Departement of Motorola in Wiesbaden, Germany. Close to my office was the Service Department from the Cellular Division. If I only had known... The Service Manager gave me my first old cell phone and that was the start of my collection. Cheers Thomas

Hi Thomas. Great to hear you have a good collection of AMPS Motorola phones. Cool about your past job with Motorola also. Yes, the Cellular Service Manual is the document that was given to Motorola cellular service techs for training. I was very lucky to get mine from an ex-service tech I know. Has lots of good info about the Dynatac & Microtac phones in it. Thanks for posting info & pics about the prototype Dynatac, fantastic ! I currently work in the mobiles industry as a tech, & I am gathering info about the history of the mobile phone network here in Australia. Cheers, Chris.

Thanks Peter, I will upload many operator branded Motorolas soon. I have about 35 Motorola DynaTAC 8000M and 25 Ultra Classic / Ultra Classic II with different operator brandings.
