Hi John, good to know you were a past owner of the Dynatac 6000X phone. Were pretty expensive in their day.
Where are you located ? Cheers, Chris.

Re: Motorola Dynatac 6000XHi. I now realise that this handset that I have is actually not a standard Dynatac 6000 handset at all.
The one I have is a special version, specifically designed to work with the Motorola extended hands free vehicle installation kit that worked in conjunction with a Microtac phone. It does need a special type of transceiver to work correctly. This handset was connected to the 3w transceiver and the Microtac at the same time, using a special interface. The 3w transceiver took on the identity of the connected Microtac phone, the handset controlling the Microtac remotely. Pretty complicated stuff ! I have yet to get all the parts for this system. The main difference with this handset compared to a Dynatac 6000 one is it has two different buttons, NAME & MENU. There is no Dynatac 6000 label on the front of the handset, and the handset is all black, no chrome parts. I have just bought an actual Dynatac 6000XL transportable phone. Will post pics of this when I get it. Cheers, Chris.
Re: Motorola Dynatac 6000XHi. Thought I would update this phone entry somewhat.
I now realise that the handset I have pictured here is a Minitac 6800XL extended system handset, but without the Minitac label on it. The reason I had so much trouble with it working correctly was all to do with the type of transceiver I was originally using it with. It will only work correctly with the correct extended system transceiver that has different firmware in it. This is definitely not a 6000X handset at all. Perhaps I should just remove this whole entry all together ? Kind of misleading... Chris.
Re: Motorola Dynatac 6000XThank you Thomas for uploading the excellent sales brochure for this & the other Motorola phones !
These brochures are very rare, do you have the original copies yourself ? Very nice...
Re: Motorola Dynatac 6000XHi Chris,
I have the original sales brochures. I bought them a few years ago and have some more (Motorola, Nokia, Siemens and Philips) which I will upload soon. Have you seen the DynaTAC article from 1973? These old magazines are very curious. Best regards Thomas
Re: Motorola Dynatac 6000XHi there.... I used to be the only guy in town with a cell phone!! Lol
My Motorola 6000x... Man that battery was heavy!! Bought it new in 1984/85... Had it custom mounted in leather briefcase by dealer cost about $3000... $1.10 minute... No cell service in Santa Monica Ca??.. Yes lol It is like new... Would love to see it go to good home... I would place on table open case flip up antenna and make my calls. I was a traveling salesman and thought I was so cool... Well I still do!!
Re: Motorola Dynatac 6000XHello I have one I bought new in 1984...
