Finally, I have one of these great phones !
I am now looking for the user manual. If anyone has the manual for this phone, I would very much like to hear from you !
More info to come.....

Nice find! You have the most amazing luck finding these phones! So that's three VFD display-based Motorolas you have now? Two working and one half working?

Hi Trent.
Yes, I now have three Motorola VFD handsets. Two Dynatac 6000 series handsets, one of which has an audio fault, and the other one on this Dynatac 4000 phone.
I am now trying to get the Dynatac 4000 to work properly, so far it will not register with my test set at all.
Have tried a few more things & will re-test it tonight.
I really need a handbook though !
None of the usual Motorola keypad sequences work with this phone, to change the system, etc.
The NAM cannot be programmed on this one with the handset, is too old for that !
It uses a 82S123 bipolar PROM chip for the NAM data, this can only be written to once. Needs an external PROM programmer to change any of the NAM data.
There is a data port on the front of the transciever unit, under a cover, but I believe this was only used to upgrade the firmware in the phone, and for testing perhaps.

Thomas, I see you have one of these phones also, cool !
Do you have any documentation for this model at all ?
Very keen to get a copy of the handbook for it.
Chris.

Hi Thomas. Fantastic ! Look forward to seeing the manual.
These are pretty rare models alright.
Does your 4000 have the exact same type of handset cradle as mine ? Or is it the slightly later version with the up down push buttons on it ?
My unit is definitely faulty. Have you tried powering up your one ?
Cheers, Chris.

Hi Chris,

The unit I own is defently incomplete. I have the sender unit and the handset cradle only.

I will upload some photos soon. Should I make a new file for this phone or should I post the pictures to your DynaTAC 4000?

Cheers
Thomas

Hi Thomas.
If your handset cradle unit is the same type as my one, then just add your photos to my Dynatac 4000 entry.
If it is different, then I suggest creating a separate entry for it.
So you are missing the transceiver to cradle cable & the power cable ?
Cheers, Chris.

Hi Chris,

The handset cradle unit is the same, but with VectorOne Branding and without the DynaTAC lettering. The model no. is F19CTA8828AG and the MSN dates it of June 1984.

I have the tranceiver, the handset cradle, the handset rest and :!: the user manual! :)

I will upload the file and the photos tomorrow!

Cheers
Thomas
